Brazil is famous for its soccer, its carnivals,
the Amazon River and the rainforest. It is an enormously varied country. In fact, Brazil is the 5th largest country in the
world, after Russia, Canada, the US, and China. With an area of 8.5 million square
kilometers (how many square miles?), Brazil is larger than the lower 48 US
line that divides the globe into two hemispheres - the equator
- crosses the country, but most
of its territory is in the southern hemisphere.
